ARCHITECTURAL AND INTERIOR DESIGN
Two leading figures in the history of modern architectural design: Victor Horta (born in Ghent, a famous architect and interior decorator) and Henry van de Velde (born in Antwerp, the father of Bauhaus) are the most representative designers in the new art movement. Their unique features lie in abandoning the neoclassical style acquired in the study career of architectural specialty, creating a new architectural style combining natural curves with modern materials, paying attention to the timeliness of architectural design, and realizing the unification of form and function in architectural form and interior decoration.
Belgian contemporary architects have created many amazing works and have frequently participated in German, French and Dutch design projects.
